This film wonderfully directed by Richard Lester offers an entirely different capture on the legendary characters of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. It’s 1199, Robin and Limited John, return to England, after King Richard the Lionheart’s death during the siege of Chal^us. Marian, now an abbess is taken from Kirklees Abbey. Robin and his followers once more prepare to fight against the Sheriff of Nottingham, their weak foe. As for the chronicle I’ll refrain from saying anything more.

‘Robin and Marian’ is about ageing, accepting life as it is. It’s a far shout from the non-stop swashbuckling of ‘The adventures of Robin Hood’ with Erroll Flynn, this movie presents all of the renowned characters in their traditional age. It shows how everyone deals with the progress of time, but offers no judgement.

Sean Connery is radiant as the obsolete Robin. With insight and passion he portrays a man who doesn’t acquire well to the passage of time. Which is sometimes painful to witness. Audrey Hepburn shines, in what I mediate is certainly one of her most spicy performances. Her gracious Marian has wisdom, intelligence, spunk and a wistful touch. Her chemistry with Connery’s Robin is shining. Their rekindled fancy is shown with a bittersweet, poignant tenderness. Which one doesn’t view often on the veil, and Audrey Hepburn and Sean Connery certainly rise to the challenge. Of the other cast members Robert Shaw and Nicol Williamson stood out for me. Shaw’s Sheriff is cunning but also fatherly (he has moved on but is serene a match for Robin) . And Williamson’s Diminutive John although staunchly actual to Robin knows very well that things are over.

This film has a gritty, authentic medieval behold. But there are the dazzling locations of the forest to bask in. A mountainous soundtrack by John Barry heightens also the wistful mood. But the viewer gets a rather stereotypical portrayal of King John. The usual outrageous John of the legends. Also animated is the poignant symbolism of the three apples at the beginning and slay of this film.

‘Robin and Marian’ doesn’t slay the chronicle of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. To me they became very realistic and infinitely more human. Not in the least because of the astonishing performances by Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn. No matter what, the two lovers will always be together, in the hearts and minds of people. However this film doesn’t compromise, ultimately leading to its downbeat and heartwrenching finale.

Growing up as a young reader in WASP America, it was inevitable that I should be exposed to the Robin Hood chronicle. Indeed, it was that fable, along with my young (and sinister) knowledge of Becket, Henry VIII and his wives, and King Arthur and the Round Table, which first got me to dreaming about visiting England. After my first crawl across The Pond in ‘75 to that green and first-rate land, I was crooked. Thus, it was with ample appreciate that I viewed ROBIN AND MARIAN.

How could one possibly collect fault with the casting of this film: Man’s Man Sean Connery as the aging, creaky Robin Hood, and the always fine Audrey Hepburn as the admire of his life, Maid Marian. As a bonus for the viewer, Robert Shaw and Nicol Williamson play the Sheriff of Nottingham and Puny John respectively. It doesn’t catch better than this.

As the movie opens, Robin and faithful pal Tiny John are off in France attendant to the death of King Richard the Lionhearted (Richard Harris), after having rummaged around with the monarch on the Third Crusade. Richard’s funeral over, our two heroes return to Sherwood Forest. Robin soon learns that the modern sovereign, rank King John, has ordered the Sheriff of Nottingham to evict a group of nuns from a local abbey. As circumstance would have it, Maid Marian took the conceal in Robin’s long absence, and is now the abbey’s prioress. Despite his aching bones and stiff joints, Robin sets off to rescue his damsel-in-distress from his old-fashioned archenemy.

There are so many joys to this movie. One is watching Sean’s Robin deal with advancing age. He’s smooth young at heart, but sleeping in the damp, frigid forest isn’t what it extinct to be. Both he and Slight John are too mighty “over the hill” for such nonsense, but only the latter, with increasing skepticism, seems to realize it. Then there’s Audrey’s Marian, who isn’t at first definite that she needs the renewed attentions of her customary beau. (Audrey is so fair! They don’t obtain actresses like that anymore.) The intervening years have even had an carry out on Shaw’s Sheriff of Nottingham, making him worthy wiser in his dealings with his rascally nemesis.

Finally, the scriptwriters give their believe interpretation to the outmoded ending of the Robin Hood tale. In their hands, it becomes at least a two-hankie event. Impartial remembering it now, I’m looking for the Kleenex box. Call me a sucker, but I unbiased ate it up!

I had a fun time watching this movie, and the film has the kind of recognition that EVERY single customer that saw it screening knew they wanted to peer it (again for most of them) . The Blu is definitely a mixed bag though. I have everyone knows of the legend by now, and watching these two well-liked eye-candy actors do their thing keeps the masses entertained as they drop from despise to care for of one another.

The Blu clarity has the high budget feel throughout, but in this case to a fault. The green conceal coloration is prevalent in any outdoor scene, at times almost appearing deliberately erroneous (the boat scene after she falls in the water was so apparent you fair destroy up looking past it and focus on the heartfelt moment as was intended) . On the second viewing I listened to the writer/director commentary to net out why they shot in Massachusetts instead of Alaska, and as usual it boiled down to money. They did derive a few mountain panoramas but the 1080 only gets to present the dependable ones for a microscopic or two total. The 5.1 DTS sounds big and gets utilized the best during the strip/bar scene (hilarious sequence) . The supplements are bittersweet and include:

* The alternate ending. A draw different style of ending that had some hilarious actor(s) completely deleted from the film. It is without the effects so you immediately examine how mighty green shroud was being ragged - we are talking walls and cranes worth.

* 6 minutes of deleted scenes. Understandable.

* Plot Antics as hosted by Aasif Mandvi. 6 minutes worth, you might acquire a couple chuckles out of it.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Proposal! Click Here

* Digital copy of the film on disc 2.

* Commentary by Fletcher and Chiarelli. They salvage some (sporadic) decent material on there, and by their acquire admission they admit theirs is how not to do a commentary, but I had to hear all the whys on filming region and volumes of effects for a romcom.

The menu is a corny appealing style, but all of the selections have an on/off for commentaries.

I laughed and enjoyed the film, but the solid clarity shows all of the elegant line failings throughout as each window background and exterior shot entertaining mountains becomes glaringly untrue at the seams. Not a 5-star benchmark Blu (what should have been had it actually been filmed in Alaska) so four for the film and supplements.

‘The Proposal’ was a genuinely sweet, laughable, and charming movie. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, the film’s two main stars, had some broad chemistry that made all of their scenes together quite spirited. I must say, all of the actors turned into large contributions. Retain an perceive for Malin Akerman (of Watchmen fame) and Oscar Nunez (fragment of The Office’s stellar cast) . Of course, this was a romantic comedy through and through- you could observe the ending coming from honest about the film’s initiate. But that’s really fraction of the fun, isn’t it? ‘The Proposal’ was a laugh-out-loud hilarious movie with impartial the just amounts of charm and even a flow of drama. I have no doubts that the Blu-ray, with its included digital copy, won’t disappoint.

“The Wretched of Haruhi Suzumiya” is an anime series that combines elements of several other psychological/sci-fi anime head ride series of the past decade, such as “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” “Serial Experiments Lain,” “Boogiepop Phantom,” and “X,” but couches them all in the formula of a high school romantic comedy. It looks, feels and sounds like a teen comedy (excepting the occasional dimension-warping classroom battle), but the fate of the universe is at stake in practically every scene. And it’s up to bad Kyon, an ordinary high school boy, with maybe a petite more cynicism than most, to support it all together. Why him? Because he’s the one that Haruhi Suzumiya, his high-achieving, headstrong, easily-bored classmate, latches onto to maintain her entertained and serve carry out her exasperated schemes, which usually involve her interest in all things extraterrestrial, supernatural and paranormal. Oh, with a shrimp cosplay thrown in. Kyon initially dismisses her as crazy, but, one by one, the three other kids that net roped in, all with secrets of their hold, vow that there’s more to Haruhi than meets the inspect.

In this volume, Kyon must contend with a glowing classmate’s sudden homicidal bent; a cab fling through Tokyo with Itsuki, the “esper” in the group, who explains the “human principle” to Kyon and the pain of “enclosed spaces”; a night spent in objective such a location with Haruhi and the clues he’s given to choose the one action that will put the universe in the prick of time; and a baseball tournament in which he must play on a motley team formed by Haruhi, with the implicit directive to win–or else!

Although the series relies on a lot of standard anime themes, it never fails to approach up with one wholly novel touch after another. (The high point of this volume is the confrontation in the “enclosed set” in episode 6, cited above.) The writing is especially consuming, and often quite laughable, particularly in the clashes between the sardonic Kyon, who sees everything with a chilly trail of reality, and fast-talking Haruhi, who shows an deliver disdain for everyday reality. Japanese pop singer Aya Hirano provides the yelp of Haruhi and does a titanic job of bringing the character to life and gripping the viewers honest as wholeheartedly as Haruhi does the four members of her precious “SOS Brigade.” The special features on this volume reveal the exceedingly cute Hirano in a “Making of” segment recording one of the songs for the soundtrack. Another “Making of” segment chronicles a photo shoot featuring her and the disclose actresses who play the two other girls in Haruhi’s circle, laconic bookworm Yuki Nagato and cosplaying cutie Mikuru Asahina.

Movie Title: Outbreak

Outbreak is available for streaming or downloading.

This movie is one of the best and most underated movies I seen. The basic storyline is a virus starts off like many others. The main character (Dustin Hoffman) has a hunch that this virus can be very serious, and turns out being so. From here the movie took off and unprejudiced got better and better. During the last 40 minutes of the movie, I was so stuck in it, I don’t assume I moved the entire time. This movie is a rare must leer. One reason I liked it so powerful is that the belief of the movie honest got you thinking. Can’t say it enough, it’s a large movie!

Outbreak is one of the best, most moving, most impressive films I’ve seen in a long, long time. It is based on a threat more frightful than nuclear war, stars the best actors and actresses Hollywood has to offer, features tons of heart-pumping, exhilarating action, and falls squarely in the category of “blew me away.” Man, that Dustin Hoffman can act; I don’t possess I’ve ever fully appreciated the man’s acting skills before. Then you have Morgan Freeman, for my money the best actor working today; I’m venerable to Freeman being squarely on the side of excellent vs. atrocious, and I wanted to slap him many times as I was watching this film, but the man does amazing work. Donald Sutherland plays his rather inhuman role perfectly, Rene Russo lights up the veil, Cuba Gooding, Jr., supplies both humor and heroism of the noblest kind, and Kevin Spacey shines in a co-starring role. When Kevin Spacey is in your film but is not the bonafide star of the whole thing, you know you’re looking at some kind of special movie. As an animal lover, I also have to praise the animals that performed so well in this film, especially the abominable tiny monkey who helps initiate a national and potentially global crisis through no fault of his hold.

You have to respect viruses. These things are the killer sharks of the exiguous world, insidious, darn approach indestructible microscopic buggers who ruin every cell in their path. They don’t clock out after eight hours or nap away afternoon breaks; these things never halt or rest. The subject of Outbreak is a very special virus borne in the wilds of Africa, an unmatched destructive force that can destroy a man (in the most rank of ways) in a matter of hours. It’s like nothing ever seen before - well, actually, it was seen in 1967, but the powers that be took their itsy-bitsy secret home with them in a vial and firebombed all the evidence of its existence (along with a necessary number of innocent human beings) . Now, the virus is back; not only is it wait on, it is in America - brought to these shores in the beget of a bad small monkey taken from its home and illegally smuggled into this country. Our government and in particular our military faces an invisible enemy that can demolish the nation and everyone in it in a matter of days. If and when such a virus outbreak does select spot here, let us all fervently hope that our government performs considerable better than they do in this movie.

Dustin Hoffman plays Col. Sam Daniels of the USAMRIID, a profitable man who did not forget his Hippocratic Oath when he became an army officer. He and his crew, including Major Schuler (Kevin Spacey) and unusual team member Major Salt (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), in conjunction with Daniels’ ex-wife, mature co-worker, and novel bigwig at the CDC Robby Keough (Rene Russo) are basically the only people in the government more concerned with saving lives than with protecting military secrets. Daniels’ boss is Brigadier General Ford (Morgan Freeman), a frustrating player in these events who knows things about the virus he is forbidden (and does not want to) admit, but the legal villain of this record is Maj. General Donald McClintock (played to a slimy tee by Donald Sutherland) . Daniels and his fellow heroes hasten to succor the dying and to battle this unpleasant virus, constantly stymied and eventually gravely threatened by military superiors who care more about protecting the secret of a biological weapon than about the people they pledged themselves to defend and protect.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Outbreak! Click Here

The things you contemplate in this film are quite possible, and that is what makes it such a fascinating, even ugly film. While the audience is never treated to a lawful gross-out shot of what this trim duper hemorrhagic virus can do to a human body, the fear is nevertheless quite trusty. The heroism of Daniels and Salt in particular isn’t miniature to the hospitals and labs; they grasp on the government and the military itself in an exertion to effect lives. The one significant information source the medical team needs is the host organism. The recent carrier who brought the virus to America’s shores represents the only dependable hope of saving a whole town and very possibly the entire nation. This virus has a 100% extinguish rate; no one survives it.

Well over two hours of increasingly adrenaline-pumping suspense await the viewer of Outbreak. This movie will have you completely under its spell and leave a clear impression on you for some time to advance. It is a rare joy to inspect Hollywood win on a very serious bid and deal with it in a realistic fashion, and few movies can boast the caliber of talent that you will gather here. One or two of the leading actors in this novel thriller can carry a movie on their contain, but here a whole range of Hollywood’s best arrive together to produce a movie that succeeds perfectly. As far as I’m concerned, Outbreak is a must-see motion report.

Based on an unforgettable 1973 movie, the series focused on the lives of students struggling through law school at a prestigious university.

The series lasted only one season on CBS with 22 episodes, from 1978 to 1979, and this boxed location from Scream!Factory collects those episodes, which revolves around the students’ first year of ‘trial’ and tribulatios.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Paper Chase: Season One! Click Here

PBS reran the series then the cable channel Showtime revived the series in 1983, where it lasted for three more seasons.

The series centered around student James T. Hart, a core cast of fellow-students, and one truly dominant force of nature in the compose of a legendary law professor, Charles W. Kingsfield Jr., played beyond iconic perfection by the astonishing John Houseman.

Houseman had starred as Kingsfield in the movie version, then unbelievably reprised the role on the petite conceal to the delight of his fans. Sadly, Houseman died a year after the Showtime incarnation of the series ended.

Hart, played by James Stephens in the series, and by Timothy Bottoms in the movie, is a hard-working student from Minnesota whose background ill prepares him for the rough and plunge of law school.

Hart is utterly shrinking and fascinated by Kingsfield, who challenges his students so vigorously that he has become a narrative in his acquire time, and his classes are both loathed and cherished.

The professor, the undisputed authority on contract law, becomes an unwilling and unknowing mentor to Hart, who decides he will do anything he can to meet and exceed the expectations of the master legal-eagle. By the time the series ends on Showtime, Hart graduates.

While the series explores the relationship between Hart and his co-students who fabricate a notice group, it is Houseman’s Kingsfield that inhabits every paddle of the demonstrate, even when he is not on veil - a lasting testimony to the actor’s skill.

Stephens and Bottoms have devoted fan bases who argue one actor’s portrayal is the quintessential Hart. For me, Stephens brings a sensitivity and likeability that Bottoms does not. Of course, Stephens had many episodes to imbue the character with his style.

In the series, Hart’s best friend, Franklin Ford III, is played by Tom Fitzsimmons, while actors Willis Bell, James Keane, and Betty Harford, (Kingsfield’s secretary) round out the core cast in the first season, which aired on CBS.

The joy of the reveal was the large scripts which managed to combine humor, tension and amazing stress caused by constant, rigorous glance, with friendship and deeper, philosophical issues brought up by the good topics they were learning. In short, it was one of the best cancelled TV series EVER!

This boxed situation includes the 22 episodes from the CBS season: The Paper Rush Pilot; Mountainous Expectations; The Man Who Would Be King; A Day in the Life of…; Voices of Silence; Nancy; Da Da; The Seating Chart; Moot Court; Kingsfield’s Daughter; The Sorcerer’s Apprentice; Bell and Love; An Act of Desperation; Losing Streak; The Man in the Chair; A Matter of Honor; The Apprentice; Once More With Feeling; The Clay Footed Idol; The Tables Down at Ernie’s; A Case of Détente; and Scavenger Hunt.

As others have written, “The Paper Jog” is one of the best, most compelling dramas ever made for television. A principal darling when it first aired, it was really too intellectual and did not get a sizable enough audience on CBS. However, it was so great that it objective would not die quietly. After gaining more kudos in reruns on PBS, Showtime brought it abet several years later luring help the key players from the first season to continue in “The Paper Wobble - The Second Year” and “The Paper Go - The Third Year.” Showtime finished its urge with a final six episodes called “The Paper Hurry - The Graduation Year” which was actually a continuation of the third year. It maintained an fabulous level of excellence from the first season through its Showtime years.

Based on the original by John Jay Osborn Jr. The Paper Traipse and the motion narrate of the book The Paper Fling, the television series far surpasses the quality of its predecessors. It reminds me in some ways of “M*A*S*H,” the series, which was far and away better than its novel book and movie. Unfortunately, unlike “M*A*S*H,” once Showtime finished “The Paper Sprint” more than 20 years ago, it has been rarely seen since. It is so well written, so well acted, so compelling and dramatic, that it deserves a chance to win a original audience on DVD.

If you watched it in its day and liked it, please select a copy and prove the distributor (Roar Factory) that there is a market for the rest of the series. Even if you did not scrutinize it when it first aired, but you savor knowing, thought-provoking drama, give it a try and spread the word. You don’t have to be a lawyer or law student to identify with the characters and the daily events in which they secure themselves. It’s a narrative and television series for all of us.

Hollywood makes movies all the time that involve the murdering of innocents. However, these movies rarely illustrate any certain consequences that result after the murders, let alone any spiritual sentiments or accurate belief that occur within the murders themselves. Waste OF THE SPEAR is a film that not only does both these things, but also tells how the deaths of those killed helped bring about the salvation of an entire run of people from the verge of a self-inflected extinction.

Buy,Download, Or Stream End of the Spear! Click Here

END OF THE SPEAR is largely a movie about the Waodani people. The Waodani are a people that live in the jungles of Ecuador. Despite the pressures of the outside world that continued to squeeze the environment and resources of the Waodani, they continued to live a self-sufficient and self-contained life in the jungle. That is, except for one crucial element: the Waodani were killing themselves to death. For whatever reasons, the Waodani had split into different tribes. The lack of resources and women caused the tribes to get raids upon each other. If a child lived after one of these raids, he would grow up to witness revenge upon those who had killed his family. Thus, encourage and forth the violence continued for several generations until only a handful of Waodani were left and they were on the verge of a self-inflicted genocide.

They were saved by a group of missionaries. Five young men slowly made contact with the tribe. Eventually, they attempted to have a face-to-face interaction with members from the tribe. The attempt ended in the cancel of the five men (Jim Elliot and Nate Saint included) . Undeterred the wives and families of the murdered men contacted the tribe and came to live with them. This act of compassion, grace, and mercy proved to set aside the Waodani from both disease and themselves.

Buy,Download, Or Stream End of the Spear! Click Here

In Christian circles, the lives of Nate Saint and Jim Elliot have taken on almost mythic proportions. Interesting as their lives were, the movie Slay OF THE SPEAR helps to ground the memoir in truth and reality by telling the account from the perspective of Mincayani, a Waodani leader and the man who killed Nathan Saint.

END OF THE SPEAR was made on a shoestring budget with puny promotion. Yet, except for the sometimes cheesy voice-overs, the represent appears to have the budget of a normal motion portray. The cinematography is shimmering, the acting is estimable, and the editing concise. There is a spiritual slant to the movie, but unlike many Christian films the Gospel message and tale of conversion isn’t contrived. Instead, it occurs naturally and fits with the wander and record of the rest of the film.

Granted, Kill OF THE SPEAR isn’t for everyone. It begins rather slowly and there are a few awkward moments. Nevertheless, the filmmaking in Kill OF THE SPEAR is on par with the average Hollywood flick and its storytelling is on a level above great of the garbage that Tinsletown vomits out every year. The movie is not only based upon a factual epic, but stays upright that yarn and has a vast message about compassion, grace, and reconciliation. Hollywood could learn a thing or two from a film like this.

Some of the magic of Hollywood is its ability to remove a myth and obtain it “bigger than life”. Visually, graphically, technologically Hollywood is able to do unbelievable larger than life productions. What struck me about this movie is that instead of this movie being larger than life, the trusty lives lived by the men and women portrayed in the film were so remarkable larger than the movie. That is not a criticism of the movie, instead it is a astounding window into the weighty true lives that they lived. Often we gawk movies in order to race reality and enter into another world. This movie inspires us to enter into not an imagined world but into reality - the kind of reality that we all long for - a life that is weighty, accurate, meaningful - a life worth living.

I’m not sure I would have personally rated this so great, but my 35 month old daughter can’t get enough of this video and it causes her to go on the potty everytime she watches it! The first time I played it, she asked to see it FIVE times in a row before I insisted we stop watching the tv! Since then, EVERY time she has watched it, she has gone pee pee on the potty. Ok, one time she peed on the couch instead of the potty, but hey, all the other times she made it to the potty first! I checked this out from the library, but ended up buying it when I saw how much she loves it. It does disturbingly talk about how much the bear loves his diapers at first, but that does not seem to take away from how excited he is when he switches to big boy underwear instead. My daughter loved her diapers too, so I think it just helps her relate. She always laughs at that part. I highly recommend this.

In 1994, Wolfgang Petersen directed the film adaptation of the German novel “Die Unendliche Geschichte”, which was written by Michael Ende (1929-1995). The film/novel is better known in the U.S. with its English title of “The Neverending Story”. It was also the first film that Wolfgang Petersen filmed in English. The story begins with a troubled boy named Bastian (Barret Oliver), who is being raised by his father (Gerald McRaney). An avid reader with an active imagination, Bastian walks into a used bookstore owned by Mr. Koreander (Thomas Hill) and finds a mysterious book that captures his curiosity. Mr. Koreander seemingly doesn’t want to sell the book to him, but Bastian manages to run from the store with book in hand. Bastian takes the book to school with him, where he is tormented by three bullies (Drum Garrett, Darryl Cooksey & Nicholas Gilbert). To avoid the bullies, Bastian finds refuge in a rarely-used attic within the school and begins to read from the book about a magical land called Fantasia. Fantasia is a wonderful place with many unusual characters and is ruled by the Childlike Princess (Tami Stronach), but something terrible is happening to Fantasia as parts of it are disappearing by an unknown force referred to only as “the nothing”. The Childlike Princess calls upon the strongest warrior to find a human child to stop “the nothing”. The warrior, a boy named Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) of a tribe similar to Native Americans, takes the protective signet that the Childlike Princess gives to him and sets off to find a human child, which can only be found beyond the bounds of Fantasia. To his astonishment, as Bastian reads the book and the many adventures, challenges and dangers and Atreyu faces, Bastian slowly begins to realize whom Atreyu and the Childlike Princess are actually seeking.

With imaginative characters, good cinematography & special effects and an endearing & well-written story, “The Neverending Story” is a wonderful and engaging film that not only captures Bastian’s imagination in the story, but the audience’s imagination as well. Other memorable characters in the film include Teeny Weeny (Deep Roy), Night Hob (Tilo Prückner), Cairon (Moses Gunn), Engywook (Sydney Bromley), Urgl (Patricia Hayes), Falkor (voice of Alan Oppenheimer), Rock Biter, the Racing Snail and the Bat. Overall, I rate “The Neverending Story” with 5 out of 5 stars and very highly recommend it to both young & old alike. It’s a wonderful film that can be watched time and again without becoming tiresome. Sadly, the film’s two sequels (produced in 1990 & 1994) were far less memorable. Other films directed by Wolfgang Petersen include “Das Boot” (1981), “Enemy Mine” (1985), “The Perfect Storm” (2000) and “Troy” (2004).

Like so many other reviewers, I watched this as a small child. My kindergarten teacher just loved it. At the time, I found it horrible, dark and scary. (I was a VERY wimpy movie watcher, Raiders of the Lost Ark sent me into hysterics)

Years later, I decided to bite the bullet and try it again. I found it to be a lovely pure fantasy with (for the time) great special effects and good music. Let’s face it, you either love electronic fantasy scores or you hate them, there’s no real middle ground.

That said, I do think that this movie is too scary for small children, parents should use their own experience and knowledge to decide when their child is ready. (That is what the PG means)

This is the tale of a sensitive child who finds himself being absorbed into the magical book he is reading, called the Neverending Story. (That is where the movie gets its name, the story is different for each person, thus it never ends. There was no ripoff) Dragons, monsters and beautiful images dance in his head as he slowly realizes that the characters in the book are talking to him.

The movie is based on a German novel of the same name by Michael Ende. (a master of surrealist fairy tales for grown ups) Yes, the book is better and yes, the movie only takes the first half of the book. But really, isn’t it better to take the first half mostly intact rather than try to cram in every single scene and totally alienate all viewers? What this book really needs is a miniseries but until then, this movie is great.

Two other questions raised were what was the name Bastion yelled. Moonchild, and it wasn’t his mother’s name in the book (though it is possible if she were a hippy ‘_’) The second question was about the attic. AS the book was written by a German, one may presume that some German schools have attics. Or maybe it was just another fairy tale element added to make the story more surreal. (Attics always seem to figure into fairy tales) either way, it is a relatively small thing to worry about.

This is a very fine example of 80s fantasy, it has a good message and if you or your children are not easily frightened, it is a very good movie on a rainy day. As an owner of 186 books all I can say is see the movie, savour the book.
